Church Notices………..

Wednesday Mass: please note the Mass this Wednesday 10th June  in Craigston will be at 10.00am. Canon John Paul has an online meeting with Bishop Brian and the clergy of the Diocese from 11.00am onwards.

Fr Paul Hackett: we continue our prayers for the repose of the soul of Fr Paul Hackett who died on the Tuesday 26th May in Preston at the age of 96. For many years Fr Paul had been parish priest of Stornoway and also helped in other parishes in the Diocese. His funeral is on Tuesday 16th June in Preston. May God be gracious and merciful upon his good and faithful priest. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Mission Appeal: Fr Patrick McCallion wishes to thank everyone for their kindness towards the recent missionary appeal he made. Castlebay Parish collected £654.50  and Northbay Parish collected £326.00. Nearly £1000 has been sent to the St. Patrick’s Missionary society from the island- that is a very kind donation from our parishes. Moran Taing uile!

First Holy Communion Sunday: today we have the important celebration of our First Holy Communions on the island. A very special day for 8 children who have been working away preparing for their First Holy Communion. In Northbay church at 9.30am Alisha MacNeil; & Thomas Campbell will receive their first Holy Communion. In Castlebay church at 11.30am Iona MacKinnon; Natalie Gillies; Danny Davidson; Liam MacLean; Cameron Howat & Calum Iain MacNeil will receive their first Holy Communion. Let us all pray for them that that Lord Jesus may bless and nourish them in their journey of faith.

Castlebay Choir Practice: every Thursday at 6.00pm for an hour in Castlebay Church. Singing well known hymns as well as learning new ones and also Mass parts. Come along and join in! All welcome.

Visit of Vincentian Priests: last Wednesday we had three Vincentian Priests come and visit Barra. They are doing a parish Mission on South Uist in the parishes of Bornish & Ardkenneth. Fr Paschal, Fr Joseph and Fr Padrig are following in the footsteps of the well known Fr. Dermot Duggan (Irish Vincentian Priest) who was sent directly by St. Vincent de Paul to Barra in 1651 to keep the catholic faith alive during penal times. The three Priests celebrated Mass in St. Vincent de Paul’s Church in Eoligarry and they prayed for God’s blessing upon the parishes of Barra.

2027 Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes: next year Bishop Brian plans to lead a Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes from 25th May to 1st June 2027. Approx price is £1200-£1300. Anyone interested is asked to contact Fr Ronald Campbell in Portree. Email:-   portree@rcdai.org.uk and to do so by Friday 19th June.

Fisherman’s Mass & blessing of Boats: is on Sunday 5th July at Castlebay Pier at 2.00pm. All Welcome!
