Prayers for health of Pope Leo: last Sunday in Rome Pope Leo announced that he would be having an operation and would have to go to Hospital. He was admitted into hospital on Tuesday13th October and he had an operation on his right lung. The operation was successful. He hopes to be discharged from Hospital this weekend which is great news. We keep Pope Leo in our thoughts and prayers at this time.

Prayers for Fishermen: we unite our prayers with the fishing communities up in the Isle of Lewis after the terrible tragedy last Tuesday of the sinking of the fishing boat Kilda with three fishermen. Living on these islands we all know the dangers of the sea and we all know someone who works at sea and so every island community feels the pain when a Fisherman loses his life at sea. We pray for the families and friends of Douglas Craigie, Norman “Tam” Murray & Murdo Morrison. May the Lord bless and console all their families and friends and all who knew and worked alongside them. May their souls rest in peace.

Missio Sunday & Special Collection: today (18th October) is World Mission Sunday. Every October the Church prays and supports those in the Mission of the Church. This year marks the 100th World Missionary Sunday. The theme for this year is “One in Christ, United in Mission”. We will take up a special collection at all Masses this weekend in support of Missio Scotland. Please take home a “We are Mission” Magazine which is FREE!

Sunday Rosary + Exposition: today on Sunday (18th October) there will be Rosary in St Barr’s at 3.00pm. During the Rosary there will also be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Our Prayers today will be for Missio and for all who work in the Mission of the Church.

Church Heating in Eoligarry Church: Canon John Paul once again wishes to thank the anonymous donation towards the new heating for Eoligarry Church. Hopefully the new heating units will arrive soon and be put in place. Many Thanks! Moran Taing!

Bishop Brian’s Online Diocesan Discussion: last Monday we had our second online discussion with Bishop Brian and the rest of the Diocese. There were about 70 people online for the discussion which was a good turn out. Every parish throughout the diocese was represented. For the Mondays through October & November we will continue to have our online discussions. You can follow things on the Diocesan website (www.rcdai.org.uk) and  click on “Discerning Mission Homepage” to see what are the topics & questions for each weekly discussion.

Magnifica Humanitas: Recently Pope Leo published an encyclical called Magnifica Humanitas- On safeguarding the human person in the time of Artificial Intelligence. He addresses a very important topic in the world just now AI- Artificial Intelligence. The Diocese will hold a Zoom discussion with 3 speakers online to discuss the Encyclical and about AI. You are welcome to join the online discussion on Tuesday 27th October from 6.30pm-7.30pm. One of the speakers will be Fr. Michael MacDonald from South Uist. Go online to the Diocesan facebook or Diocesan webpage and you will see the link to register for the discussion. All Welcome!

St Barr’s Hall Northbay: please note that Northbay hall is now closed to the public until we have work done on the inside of the hall. It has been on the plans for a while to do some work. A grant was awarded to the Hall back in and now we have to close the hall so that we can begin work.

Craigston Vigil Mass: on the weekend of 24th/25th October the clocks change and go back one hour for the winter months. Therefore on Saturday 31st October the Craigston vigil Mass time will be at 4.00pm for the winter months.
