Remembrance Sunday Service: today we will gather at the war memorial in Nask for the important service of Remembrance of those who have died in our great world wars and remembering those who continue to die in conflict and remembering all those names on our war memorial. The service begins at 2.00pm. All welcome!
November Lists: the month of November is the month of the Holy Souls. There are November lists available at the church entrance. On the list you write down the names of any deceased members of your family that you would like to remember at holy Mass during this special month of the Holy Souls. Write down their names and put it into the envelope provided along with your donation. Then pass the envelope to Canon John Paul or to place in the offertory basket in the church.
Graveyard Rosary in November: another important custom in November- is to pray the Rosary in each of the island Graveyards.
Sunday 8th November 3.00pm Vatersay Graveyard.
Sunday 15th November 3.00pm Cuithir Graveyard.
Sunday 22nd November 2.00 pm in Eoligarry Graveyard.
If the weather is bad we move to the nearest church for the Rosary.
Craigston Vigil Mass: for the winter months the Craigston vigil Mass will be at 4.00pm.
SCIAF Rep: would anyone like to be a SCIAF Representative for the parishes? All you would have to do is to be a voice for SCIAF within the parishes here in Castlebay & Northbay. It’s not about raising money for SCIAF but just helping get the message of SCIAF into our parishes and for all parishioners to know more of the good work of the mission of SCIAF. Canon Michael Hutson in the parish of Benbecula is looking for names from around the Diocese to help support the mission of SCIAF. If interested let Canon John Paul know. Thanks.
Church Insurance: just to bring to your attention the cost of Church Insurance for each parish. Each October our parishes pay their annual Insurance premium. This year Castlebay parish pays £4,866.46 and Northbay Parish pays £2,152.23– it’s a lot of money the parishes have to pay out but it has to be done.
Induction of new Church of Scotland Minister: on Saturday 14th November Rev. Sigrid Marten will become the new Church of Scotland minister for Uist & Barra. The service begins at 12 Noon in Clachan Church of Scotland in North Uist. We wish Rev.Sigrid every blessing in her new role which covers such a big area. I’m sure we will all get to meet her over the time ahead.
Catholic Education special collection: next Sunday we will have a 2nd collection in support of Catholic education Sunday.
Bishop Brian’s Online Diocesan Discussion: last Monday we had our 5th online discussion with various parishioners from around the Diocese. You can follow things on the Diocesen website (www.rcdai.org.uk) and click on “Discerning Mission Homepage” to see what are the topics & questions for each week.
