Church Notices………..

 

Monday Mass:  please note there is Mass at 11.00am on Monday in Northbay Church this week.

 

Candlemas Candles: are available in the Church entrance of Northbay & Castlebay Churches. As we hear in the Gospel today “you are the light of the world”. Take home a candle and light it and pray for God’s blessing upon your family and homes.

 

Ash Wednesday: It feels like only yesterday we celebrated Christmas but the reality is that Wednesday 18th February in ASH WEDNESDAY and therefore the beginning of Lent. Ash Wednesday Masses 10.00am NORTHBAY 12 Noon CRAIGSTON & 7.00pm CASTLEBAY

 

SCIAF Wee Boxes: in preparation for Lent we normally take home a Wee Box and help support SCIAF. This year SCIAF is supporting families and communities in ETHIOPIA. SCIAF tells us “This Lent, our appeal focuses on Ethiopia, where decades of progress is being undone by conflict, droughts, floods and cuts to International aid. Millions are being pushed back into poverty, essential services are collapsing, children are going hungry and clean water is becoming harder to access. Yet there is hope, through SCIAF and our local Church Partners”. Please pick up a Wee Box next weekend and help support families in Ethiopia this year.

 

Canon John Paul: has to be away again this week from Tuesday to Friday in Glasgow. His car is due for a service on Wednesday and he is also meeting those involved with plans for work that is needed to kickstart Castlebay Church repointing. Castlebay Church Choir Practice: the weekly choir practice is in Castlebay Church each Thursday at 6.00pm (note the new time). If you are interested in singing hymns then please come along.

 

Northbay Children’s Liturgy: has now started during the 9.30am Sunday Mass in Northbay. During the Mass children will be invited into the Hall to have time together to have craft activities to help them in their understanding the Gospel passage of the Day.

 

Sacrament of Confirmation: this year Bishop Brian will confirm 10 children in P7 on Saturday 25th April at 12 Noon in Castlebay Church.

 

Date of First Holy Communions: this year there will be 8 children preparing for their First Confession and then for their First Holy Communion. The date for First Holy Communion will be Sunday 7th June- the Feast of Corpus Christi.

 

Parish 200 Club: we will start again the parish 200 club this year. We are always looking for new members to join the Parish 200 Club. So if you have not joined- then why not?? It’s another easy way to support your parishes. If you wish to join the 200 Club then speak with Canon John Paul or with Mary Sarah Campbell.You will be allocated a number and at the end of each month a draw will be made and if your number comes up then you can win either £50,  £20, £10, £10, £10. So 5 chances to try and win something. The Draw will be made publicaly on the last Saturday of each month after the Vigil Mass in Craigston Church.
