CHURCH NOTICES

Death of Pope Francis:we unite our prayers with the Universal Church in praying for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis who passed away on Easter Monday (21st April) in Rome at the age of 88. On Easter Sunday Pope Francis gave his Easter Blessing to all the pilgrims attending St. Peter’s Square. Then he was taken in the “Pope mobile” through the crowds of pilgrims giving his Easter Blessings to everyone. Pope Francis always thinking about the Church, the people of God even though he was very unwell. We pray that God may grant his good and faithful servant eternal peace and eternal happiness in the paradise of heaven. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Many Thanks: Canon John Paul wishes to thank everyone who has helped prepare our Churches for Easter. To everyone who helped clean, to all our flower arrangers, our musicians, our choirs, our readers and altar servers, pass keepers and anyone who helped in the Masses and services for Holy Week- many thanks. Moran Taing!

Funeral: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Donald John Galbraith (Domhnall Iain a Drell) who suddenly and peacefully passed away on Good Friday in St. Brendan’s Home at the age of 81. An announcement will be made when the Requiem Mass will be for Domhnall Iain. The death cannot be registered till Tuesday because of the Easter weekend holiday. But hopefully it will be midweek in St. Barr’s in Northbay. We extend our prayers of sympathy to all Domhnall Iain’s family at this time. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Recent Baptisms: over the last couple of weeks there were baptisms in our parishes. We warmly welcome into the family of the church Donald Hamish MacNeil & Theo Joseph MacInnes who were baptised in St. Barr’s in Northbay; Iseabail Mairi McKenna & Pearl Bella Campbell who were baptised in Our Lady Star of the Sea in Castlebay. May the Risen Lord Jesus bless all the children with health, joy, peace and happiness. May the Risen Lord bless all parents and Godparents and help them be the first teachers in the ways of faith for their children.

Divine Mercy Sunday: next Sunday (27th April) is the 2nd Sunday of Easter and also is known as Divine Mercy Sunday. At 3.00pm in St. Barrs there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament followed by the Divine Mercy chaplet and then Benediction.

SCIAF Wee Boxes: if you can bring your SCIAF Wee Boxes to the Church as soon as you can- so that we can start to count the money and send it to SCIAF.

Sacrament of Confirmation Date: we pray for the Children preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation.Bishop Brian will confirm the Children on Saturday 10th May at 12 Noon in Castlebay Church.

Gift Aid Envelopes: the parish gift aid envelopes are available for collection at the church entrance- so please pick up your new envelopes then. Have you every thought about giving your Sunday collection as Gift Aid? It’s a huge support to the parishes!

Canon John Paul wishes everyone a Happy & Holy Easter.
