Jubilee Year: Pope Francis heralded the beginning of the Jubilee Year on Christmas Eve in Rome. This New Year of 2025 will be a special Jubilee Year (a Holy Year) and the theme for the year will be “Pilgrims of Hope”. 4 Holy doors have now been opened in Rome- St. Peter’s Basilica, St. John Lateran, St. Mary Major and now St. Paul outside the Walls. In many of our Catholic Cathedrals in Scotland many of our Bishops have blessed special crosses for the Jubilee Year. Pope Francis says “A Holy Year is marked as a time of prayers, pilgrimages and indulgences. The ultimate purpose is to inspire repentance, forgiveness and a deeper commitment to the faith”. At the top of the Newsletter you can see the logo for the Jubilee Year- to be pilgrims of Hope!
