Fr Matthias Stepper: we have Fr Matthias staying in the Vatersay Chapel house for a few weeks break. He is a Priest from Bavaria in Germany. We hope Fr Matthias will enjoy his break.

School Holidays: it’s amazing to think how the time has flown by and the school holidays are finishing soon. This week the Schools begin a new School Year. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the children and the Teachers and all the School Staff as a new School term begins.

Outer Hebrides Unearthed APP: for those interested in technology and local island history there is an APP which may be of interest to you called –Outer Hebrides unearthed. It’s a digital heritage project run by a team of Archaeologists based on South Uist. They have been adding historical sites like “Cille Bharra” in Eoligarry to this APP. It’s a good way for people who are visiting historical sites throughout the Hebrides to be able to read up on everything on their phone and help them understand what they are looking at. The local schools of Castlebay & Eoligarry have been helping in this project too. The APP is free to download. It is planned that on Wednesday 12th August some of the Archeologists behind the APP will be at Cille Bharra graveyard to demonstrate the APP to anybody between 2pm-4pm. All welcome.
