Church Notices………..
Funeral: we were all saddened to hear of the death of Daniel MacLean who passed away recently in Glasgow aged 37. We pray for all Daniel’s family, relatives and friends at this very sad time. The funeral of Daniel will take place on Barra. The Requiem Mass will be on Tuesday 16th June at 11.30am in Our Lady Star of the Sea in Castlebay. Daniel will be received into Castlebay Church on Monday 15th June near 4.30pm-his remains will leave the family home in Cleat at 4pm. We unite all our thoughts & prayers in remembering Daniel with all our love and we commend his soul to almighty God. We also pray and support all the MacLean family at this difficult time-may the Sacred Heart of Jesus bless all who mourn the loss of Daniel. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
Day for Life Collection: next weekend (20th/21st June) we will take up a second collection for “Day for Life” which is a collection to support within the church the important teaching on the sanctity of all life. From the unborn child to the elderly, to those who suffer we respect the sanctity of all life.
Fr Paul Hackett: we continue our prayers for the repose of the soul of Fr Paul Hackett who died on the Tuesday 26th May in Preston at the age of 96. His Requiem Mass is on Tuesday 16th June in St. Wilfrid’s Church in Preston at 12.15pm. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
St Barr’s Church maintenace: we are planning on doing some maintenance and upkeep of St.Barr’s church and grounds on Saturday 20th June from 2pm onwards. We are looking for volunteers tocome along and help with the various jobs and any time you can offer would be very much appreciated. If the day or time does not suit and you would like to help-then please contact Michael MacNeil (Ardveenish) to discuss the jobs you could do when the time suits you. Many Thanks!
First Holy Communions: Canon John Paul wishes to thank everyone who helped support and prepare the children for their First Holy Communion last Sunday. It was a lovely happy celebration for our parishes. Special thanks to Mrs. Eileen O’Carroll for preparing the children this year. Canon John Paul thanks the kids for their lovely gift and card.
Castlebay Choir Practice: every Thursday at 6.00pm for an hour in Castlebay Church. We will stop on Thursday 25th June for the Summer holidays and start again later in the year.
2027 Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes: next year Bishop Brian plans to lead a Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes from 25th May to 1st June 2027. Approx price is £1200-£1300. Anyone interested is asked to contact Fr Ronald Campbell in Portree. Email:- portree@rcdai.org.uk and to do so by Friday 19th June.
