Church Notices………..

 

Stations of the Cross: there will be Stations of the Cross today (15th March) in Northbay at 3.00pm.

Also during the week there will be Stations of the Cross after Wednesday Craigston Mass and Friday Vatersay Mass.

 

Rosary: on Tuesday after Eoligarry Mass the Rosary will be prayed- reflecting on the Sorrowful mysteries of the Rosary for Lent.

 

Mothering Sunday: we wish every blessing of health, joy, peace and happiness upon all mothers and grandmothers and great grandmothers on this mothering Sunday. May the Lord bless you all on this special Sunday.

 

SCIAF Collection: today is the 4th Sunday of Lent and is sometimes called “SCIAF Sunday”. There will be a special collection taken up at the weekend Masses for SCIAF. This year SCIAF is supporting families in Ethiopia.

 

SCIAF 60th Anniversary: to help celebrate the 60th anniversary of SCIAF we have 5 Barra teenagers going to raise some money for SCIAF. Today (15th March) which is SCIAF SUNDAY, the 5 teens will aim to complete 60Km in 60 minuties by combining cycling, running and swimming-working together as a team. It’s called the 60 for 60 Challenge! Scott & Robbie & Rowan Campbell along with Lewis & Ross Irving will do their best to raise money for SCIAF. There are sponsorship forms in the Post office and Buth Buidsear- also forms in Castlebay & Northbay Church- also you can go online to a JUST GIVING page “Barra Teens 60 for 60 Challenge for SCIAF. Good luck to the 5 teens! Please help support their challenge!

 

Craigston Vigil Mass: the clocks move forward at the end of this month so on Saturday 28th March will be the last 4.00pm Vigil Mass time. After that date we move the Vigil Mass time back to 6.00pm.

 

St. Barr’s new Statue viewing: for those who are interested and would like to attend a viewing and blessing of the sculpture of St. Barr in its present form before being it is moved to the Foundry to be cast in bronze. The viewing is being held at St. Fergus Catholic Church, Paisley, PA3 1LU on Friday 20th March from 4.30pm. Bishop John Keenan will be attending. Please note that this viewing will be filmed for a BBC Gaelic documentary. Therefore no photos can be taken on the day. If you have family on the mainland who have the time they might want to go along and see it.

 

Liturgy Works: the diocesan weekend of “Liturgy works” of spiritual talks and liturgical singing is 1st-3rd May in Coatbridge.

 

Gift Aid Envelopes: are available for collection in the churches. If you pay tax and would like to give your Sunday collection as Gift Aid then please speak with Canon John Paul. A quick form to fill in and then you are allocated an envelope number!
