Special Collection: This weekend is the Solemnity of St. Peter & St. Paul. We normally take up a special collection which is called “Peters Pence”. It’s a special collection the Pope takes up each year in support of the various important catholic charities close to the Pope’s heart.

Day for Life Collection: last weekend we had a second collection to support “Day for Life”. Northbay collection was £163.00 and Castlebay collection was £299.60. Moran Taing!

Barra 200 Club: the draw for June will be made this weekend after the Craigston Vigil Mass on Saturday 27th June.

Fisherman’s Mass & blessing of Boats: Next Sunday 5th July is the annual celebration of the Fisherman’s Mass & the blessing of the boats at Castlebay Pier at 2.00pm. All Welcome!

Fr. Stefan Park: on Thursday 2nd July Fr Stefan Park will be coming to stay in Castlebay Chapel house for a couple of weeks. Fr Stefan is an Augustinian Priest (OSA-Order of St Augustine) based in England. As we all know Pope Leo was an Augustinian Priest before he became Pope so it will be lovely to hear from Fr Stefan his thoughts on Pope Leo becoming Pope. Fr. Stefan  is originally from Glasgow and many years ago he did visit Barra. Fr. Stefan will help look after the island parishes and let Canon John Paul go away and have a Summer break. We hope Fr Stefan has an enjoyable time.

Fr Chris Chaplin: on Friday 3rd July we welcome Fr Chris Chaplin to Vatersay Chapel House. Fr Chris was here in June 2024 and stayed a month on Vatersay. He liked it so much he is going to return again for the month of July. Fr Chris is a Priest with the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC). Fr Chris is from Australia but at the moment he is based in Rome. We look forward to welcoming Fr Chris again and hope he has a restful time on Vatersay

Fr Donald MacLeod: on Friday 3rd July Fr Donald MacLeod will celebrate his 50th Anniversary of his Priesthood. The Mass will take place in St.Columbkille’s Church in Rutherglen at 1pm. Let us unite in our prayers and best wishes for Fr Donald and pray that the Lord Jesus may bless him on this special Golden Anniversary of his Priesthood.

Sacrament of Confession: with Fr Stefan & Fr Chris on our Islands (two visiting Priests) it’s a lovely opportunity to go to another Priest for Confession. Why not take the opportunity?

Summer Holidays: Canon John Paul will take a summer holiday after the Fisherman’s Mass on Monday 6th July for a couple of weeks. While he is away Fr Stefan Park will be looking after things in the parishes.
