CHURCH NOTICES
Fr. Patrick McCallion: we warmly welcome Fr Patrick to the island and to our parishes. It’s his first time visiting the island. We hope he enjoys his time and that the weather will be kind to him.
Mission Appeal: this weekend of 23rd/24th May (Pentecost Sunday) there will be a Mission Appeal made by the St. Patrick’s Missionary Society (The Kiltegan Fathers). We have Fr Patrick McCallion who spent 19 years in Malawi and will speak about his missionary experience and the good work of the St. Patrick’s missionary society. Fr Patrick will here till Wednesday 27th May and then heads over to Erisaky to make an appeal there.
Funeral Mass: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Martin John MacNeil– originally from Vatersay who died recently in Carloway aged 71. Martin’s Funeral Mass will be on Monday 25th May at 11.00am in Our Lady of the Waves & St. John on Vatersay and thereafter burial in Vatersay Graveyard. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
Special collection: will be taken up this weekend of Pentecost to support St. Patrick’s Missionary Society. Please be as generous as you can.
Canon John Paul: is away on the mainland for the week while Fr. Patrick McCallion is here. Canon John Paul will return on Friday 29th May.
Weekday Mass: please note there is no weekday on Thursday & Friday this week. Fr Patrick heads over to Eriskay on Wednesday and Canon John Paul returns on Friday.
Recent Baptism: we warmly welcome into the family of the Church Grace Ann Davidson who was baptised on Saturday 16th May in Our Lady Star of the Sea. We wish Grace every blessing of love, peace, health and happiness and every blessing upon her parents Steven & Claire and Godparents Rachael & Joe.
First Holy Communion Sunday: we remember the 8 children preparing for their First Holy Communion on Sunday 7th June. We pray for- Alisha MacNeil; Iona MacKinnon; Natalie Gillies; Danny Davidson; Thomas Campbell; Liam MacLean; Cameron Howat & Calum Iain MacNeil. May the Holy Spirit help these children as they prepare to receive their Lord in the Sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time.
