Recent Death & Funeral: we pray for the repose of the soul of Domhnall Eoin Galbraith (St Brendan’s Road  & Ardveenish) who peacefully passed away in his own home last Sunday aged 64. The Requiem Mass of Domhnall Eoin took place on Wednesday 29th April in St. Barr’s Northbay and thereafter he was laid to rest in Cille Bharra graveyard in Eoligarry. We extend our prayers of love and sympathy to all Domhnall Eoin’s family, relatives and friends at this sad time. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Funeral: we also remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Donald Joseph Morrison (Glasgow & Glen) who died in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago and it was his wish to be laid to rest on Barra. Donald Joseph will be received into Castlebay church on Friday 8th May when the boat arrives. Then on Saturday 9th May the Requiem Mass will be at 11.30am in Our Lady Star of the Sea. We extend our prayers of love and sympathy to all family, relatives and friends at this sad time. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Canon Pat McSorley: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Canon Pat McSorley. He was a Priest of Galloway Diocese here in Scotland. When Fr Pat retired from active ministry he often helped many priests have a break by looking after their parishes. Fr Pat travelled to Barra a number of times to let Canon John Paul go away on holiday. A couple of years ago he moved back to Ireland to be with family and relatives. He peacefully passed away last Thursday 30th April aged 89 and his Requiem Mass will be in Ireland on Tuesday 5th May in St Patrick’s Church in Eskra. May God be gracious and merciful upon his good and faithful Priest. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Tea after Northbay Mass: there are a lot of parishioners away this weekend so we will have the Tea after Sunday Mass next Sunday 10th May. All welcome.

SCIAF Wee Boxes: We have sent £1170.00 from Castlebay and  £471.50 from Northbay. Thank you for your support to SCIAF.

The month of May: is the month of Mary– in which we pray the Rosary more often.

First Holy Communion date: we remember the children preparing for their First Holy Communion this year on Sunday 7th June.

Castlebay Church Choir Practice: resumes each Thursday at 6.00pm in Castlebay Church. All Welcome!

Parish Gift Aid: do you pay tax? Have you signed up for parish Gift Aid to help support your parish? Speak to Canon John Paul. You simply fill in a very short form- you will be given an envelope number and then you can put your Sunday collection into the envelope. Also you can just go online and set up a standing order with the parish which is much easier than the envelope. Why not think about it?
