Church Notices!
Many Thanks: Canon John Paul wishes to thank everyone who helped prepare our Churches for Christmas. The Churches all look so beautful! It is an “explosion of colour” with the decorations and beautiful flower arrangements. If you have the time please go and visit all five of our Churches and say a prayer before each nativity scene for God’s blessing upon you and your families. Many thank to our Musicians, Singers, Choirs, Readers, Altar servers, Flower arrangers & Pass keepers and all who helped at the Christmas Masses. Thank you for all your kind support!
Canon John Paul: thanks everyone for their kind Christmas Cards and lovely Christmas gifts. Moran taing uile!
Community Carol singing: come along and join in the Community Carol singing TODAY on Sunday 28th December at 3.00pm in Northbay Hall. There will be mince pies and a wee glass of wine available to help with the singing!! There will be a “bucket collection” and all donations will go to the Charity SCIAF. All welcome!
New Years Day: there is no better way to begin a New Year in our lives than praying for God’s blessings at Mass. There will be Mass at 11.00am in Castlebay and 12.30pm Mass in Northbay. New Years Day is also the Solemnity of Mary the Mother of God. We pray to our Lady to let her motherly love guide us all into the New Year of 2026.
Justice & Peace: next weekend on the Feast of the Epiphany we pray in a special way for Justice & Peace. There will be a letter read out at all Masses from Archbishop Nolan and there will be a second collection to support the work of Justice & Peace.
Thanks to the Thrift Shop: Canon John Paul wishes to thank the local Thrift Shop for their very kind Christmas donation of £1000 for Castlebay & Northbay Parishes. Each year we always receive a very kind donation from the Thrift Shop and normally we use the money for buying Christmas Flowers for our Churches. Moran Taing!
Sister Katie Kelly: It has come to Canon John Paul’s attention that Sr. Katie Kelly passed away a number of months ago in her Dominican Convent in Donegal. Canon John Paul visited Sr. Katie in April 2024 when there was a Barra wedding taking place in Donegal. Sr Katie was well known on the island for visiting the elderly and praying the Rosary with them. Latterly she had been suffering from dementia for a few years. We pray that God may grant her the fulness of eternal peace and eternal rest.
Canon John Paul wishes everyone a Happy & Holy New Year!
May God bless you all with health, peace, joy and faith.
May this New Year be another year we walk humbly with our Lord!
Bliadhna mhath ur dhuibh uile!
