Prayers for the faithful departed: we offer our prayers for the repose of the soul of Duncan Johnstone (of Ciosmul Cottages in Castlebay) who passed away last Sunday (7th Dec) in hospital on the mainland. So many people on the island knew and liked Duncan. He was well known for being a wonderful fiddle player and also a good teacher of the fiddle to our youth. Duncan helped play the fiddle at Church weddings and also at Funerals. He was a very talented man and will be missed by the island community. The Funeral of Duncan will take place in Glasgow after the New Year- some time in January. We pray for the repose of the soul of Duncan and we pray for all his family and friends mourning his loss. May he rest in God’s eternal love and peace. Amen.
SCIAF’S Real Gifts: if you are looking for something different and inspiring to give a loved one this Christmas then go online to the SCIAF website and check out the “Real Gifts” section.
Mary’s Meals: another lovely charity we can support at Christmas is of course Mary’s Meals. They too have an online shop to help support their good work of feeding and educating children. As Mary’s Meals say- it costs £19.15 to feed one child for one year.
