CHURCH NOTICES
Missio Scotland Collection: We sent £181.40 from Northbay parish and £540.63 from Castlebay parish to support Missio Scotland who this year are supporting parish projects in Bolivia. Many thanks for your kind donations.
Craigston Vigil Mass time Change: from this weekend for the next 4 months the Vigil Mass in Craigston will be at 4.00pm.
Prayers for faithful departed: we pray for the repose of the soul of Mary Anne Cullen (Mary Anne Mhicheil a’ Chrughail) of Barra & Oban who passed away on Monday 27th October in a Nursing Home in Bearsden in Glasgow. Mary Anne’s funeral will take place in Oban on Tuesday 4th Novmber in St. Columba’s Cathedral. We extend our prayer and love to all Mary’s Anne family at this sad time. May she rest in peace. Amen.
All Souls Day: this year the Feast of All Souls day will be Monday 3rd November. There will be two Masses on that day .The first Mass is at 10am in Northbay and then an evening Mass at 7pm in Castlebay.
The Month of November: we now begin the month of November and it is an important month of praying for the Holy Souls. It is a very important month in which the Church unites in prayer for all our deceased family, relatives, friends and parishioners. There are November Lists available in which you can write down the names of any deceased members of your family and they will be remembered at each Mass during November. Once you have written down the names on your November list, place that list into an envelope with an offering and to pass the envelope on to Canon John Paul or you can place it in the collection basket on Sunday.
Graveyard Rosary: an important custom during the month of November is to pray the holy Rosay at each of the 4 graveyards – Sunday 2nd November in BORVE Graveyard @ 3pm;
Sunday 9th November in VATERSAY Graveyard @ 3pm;
Sunday 16th November in CUITHIR Graveyard @ 3pm;
Sunday 23rd November in EOLIGARRY Graveyard @ 2.00pm
If the weather is not good then we move to the nearest church to pray the Rosary.
Remembrance Sunday War Memorial Service: is next Sunday (9th November). The War Memorial Service will take place at Nask at 2.00pm. Prayers and 2 minute silence and the placing of the wreaths will take place then. All Welcome!
Enrollment for Sacraments: letters have been sent out through the School to see how many Children will be preparing for their First Holy Communion and also for the Sacrament of Confirmation. If parents can fill them in and pass them onto the school.
