CHURCH NOTICES

Annual safeguarding letter: Bishop Brian has written a letter which will be read out all Masses this weekend in our parishes and throughout the Diocese. The letter highlights the importance of safeguarding within our Diocese and in all our parishes.

Craigston Vigil Mass time Change: for the next 4 months the Vigil Mass in Craigston will be at 4.00pm.

SCES collection: there will be a second collection this weekend to support Scottish Catholic Education Service (SCES).

The Month of November: is an important month of praying for the Holy Souls. It is a very important month in which the Church unites in prayer for all our deceased family, relatives, friends and parishioners. There are November Lists available in which you can write down the names of any deceased members of your family and they will be remembered at each Mass during November. Once you have written down the names on your November list, place that list into an envelope with an offering and to pass the envelope on to Canon John Paul or you can place it in the collection basket on Sunday.

Graveyard Rosary: an important custom during the month of November is to pray the Rosay at a graveyard ……..

Sunday 16th November at CUITHIR Graveyard @ 3pm;

Sunday 23rd November at EOLIGARRY Graveyard @ 2.00pm. Pleate note the time for next week is earlier at 2pm.

If the weather is not good then we go to the nearest church.

Castlebay Church Choir Practice: It has been agreed that the choir practice willl take place each Thursday at 5.00pm in Castlebay Church. Looking at hymns for Advent and also singing new Mass parts. All welcome to attend!

Date for Sacrament of Confirmation: Bishop Brian has informed Canon John Paul that he will come to Barra on Saturday 25th April 2026 to confirm the children for the sacrament of Confirmation. Put it in the diary!!

The Children’s Sacraments: Canon John Paul has received most of the forms for the children who will receive their Sacraments next year- First Holy Communion (& Confession) and Confirmation. There are a couple of forms still to be handed in –so if parents could do that as soon as possible so that we can plan the classes for the children. The best and imporant way for the children to prepare for the Sacraments is to come to Sunday Mass. Canon John Paul encorgaes all parents to bring the children to Sunday Mass.

Daily missal Book: Canon John Paul is going to order some daily Missal books from CTS which will have all the readings for through the week and also Sunday. It will cost £70. It is rather expensive but it should be a one off purchase and you will not need another missal for a long time. However if you wish only the weekday Missal (which will NOT have the Sunday readings) that will cost £55. Let Canon John Paul know if you are interested in the Daily Missal or weekday Missal.
