CHURCH NOTICES
Craigston Vigil Mass time Change: for the next 4 months the Vigil Mass in Craigston will be at 4.00pm.
Wednesday Mass: this week the Mass in Craigston on Wednesday will be at 10.00am instead of 12 Noon.
The Month of November: we now begin the month of November and it is an important month of praying for the Holy Souls. It is a very important month in which the Church unites in prayer for all our deceased family, relatives, friends and parishioners. There are November Lists available in which you can write down the names of any deceased members of your family and they will be remembered at each Mass during November. Once you have written down the names on your November list, place that list into an envelope with an offering and to pass the envelope on to Canon John Paul or you can place it in the collection basket on Sunday.
Graveyard Rosary: an important custom during the month of November is to pray the holy Rosay at each of the graveyards –
Sunday 9th November at VATERSAY Graveyard @ 3pm;
Sunday 16th November at CUITHIR Graveyard @ 3pm;
Sunday 23rd November at EOLIGARRY Graveyard @ 2.00pm
If the weather is not good then we move to the nearest church to pray the Rosary.
Borve Graveyard AGM: is on Tuesday 11th November at 7pm in Cobhair Bharraigh. All Welcome!
Remembrance Sunday Memorial Service: The War Memorial Service will take place today at 2.00pm at Nask. Prayers and 2 minute silence and the placing of the wreaths will take place then. All Welcome!
Castlebay Church Choir Practice: We are wondering what day of the week and time is good for Castlebay (& Craigston) parishioners to come together and have a weekly Choir Practice and look ahead to hymns for Advent and Christmas. You can speak with Canon John Paul or speak with Rob after the Sunday Mass and let them know your thoughts.
Fr Etienne LeCarme: Over the past 8 years we have had Fr Etienne living in St. Barr’s Chapel House in Northbay. Fr Etienne was a “hermit priest” and lived his life like a monk on the island in Northbay. Over the last 8 years you may have “bumped into” Fr Etienne around the island. The Chapel house in Northbay was his “hermitage” and he lived out his “hermitic way” of life there for the last 8 years. Fr Etienne now feels it is time to return to France where he is from and to continue his life there as a hermit priest. We wish Fr Etienne every blessing in his priesthood. He wishes to thank everyone for making him feel very welcome to the island and he will remember us all in his prayers.
Daily missal Book: Canon John Paul is going to order some daily Missal books from CTS which will have all the readings for through the week and also Sunday. It will cost £70. It is rather expensive but it should be a one off purchase and you will not need another missal for a long time. However if you wish only the weekday Missal (which will NOT have the Sunday readings) that will cost £55. Let Canon John Paul know if you are interested in the Daily Missal or weekday Missal.
