CHURCH NOTICES
October Devotions: today (Sunday 26th October) is the last Sunday of October and there will be Rosary & Benediction in Our Lady Star of the Sea in Castlebay at 3.00pm. Please note the earlier time of 3pm!
Missio Scotland Collection: as parish numbers were low last week because of the October Holidays the 2nd collection this weekend will also go towards Missio Scotland.
Craigston Vigil Mass time Change: the last couple of years when the clocks have changed we have moved the Craigston Vigil Mass from 6pm to 4pm for the Winter months. Parishioners seem to like this time change especially during the dark winter months. Therefore from next Saturday 1st November the Vigil Mass will be at 4.00pm for the Winter Months.
Next Sunday: will be the Solemnity of All Saints. The Church (for this year only) has moved the Solemnity from Saturday 1st November to Sunday 2nd November.
All Souls day: this year the Feast of All Souls day will be moved to Monday 3rd November. There will be 2 Mass es that day. The first Mass at 10am in Northbay and then an evening Mass at 7pm in Castlebay.
The Month of November: next Saturday we begin the month of November and the important month of prayer for the Holy Souls. It is a very important month in which the Church unites in prayer for all our deceased family, relatives, friends and parishioners. There are November lists available in which you can write down the names of any deceased members of your family and they will be remembered at each Mass during November. Once you have written down the names on your November list, place that list into an envelope with an offering and to pass the envelope on to Canon John Paul or you can place it in the collection basket on Sunday.
Graveyard Rosary: an important custom during the month of November is to pray the holy Rosary at each of the 4 graveyards –
Sunday 2nd November in BORVE Graveyard @ 3pm;
Sunday 9th November in VATERSAY Graveyard @ 3pm;
Sunday 16th November in CUITHIR Graveyard @ 3pm;
Sunday 23rd November in EOLIGARRY Graveyard @ 2.00pm
If the weather is not good then we move to the nearest church to pray the Rosary.
Remembrance Sunday: is on Sunday 9th November. The War Memorial Service will take place at Nask at 2.00pm on Sunday 9th November. Prayers and 2 minute silence and the placing of the wreaths will take place then. All Welcome!
Enrollment for Sacraments: letters have been sent out through the School to see how many Children will be preparing for their First Holy Communion and also for the Sacrament of Confirmation. If parents can fill them in and pass them onto the school.
