CHURCH NOTICES
October Devotions: today (Sunday 19th October) there will be Rosary & Benediction in St. Barr’s Northbay at 4pm. Since it is Mission Sunday we will offer special prayers for all who work in the Missions.
The Rosary month of October: we are encouraged during the month of October to pray the Rosary. Pope Leo asks us all to pray during this month for Peace in our world.
Tuesday Mass: please note there is NO Mass in Eoligarry this week. On Tuesday Canon John Paul will attend the Funeral of Rhoda Walker over on South Uist. Rhoda for the last few months had been resident in St. Brendan’s Home but she peacefully passed away last Thursday in St. Brendan’s Home. The Funeral will be in St. Peter’s Daliburgh on Tuesday 21st October.
Mission Sunday: Today, with every Catholic in every parish in the world, we celebrate World Mission Sunday. The theme of the late holy Father Pope Francis, he chose “Missionaries of Hope to all peoples”. In this Jubilee Year of Hope, let us show solidarity of faith with our Catholic brothers and sisters in those parts of the church where it is small, young and poor, such as the church in Bolivia. Our prayers and generous financial support, given through Missio Scotland, will enable them to be a source of God’s love for the communities of which they are part. Your prayers and financial assistance will support missionary priests, religious sisters and brothers and lay Catechists.
Special Collection: today we take up a second collection to support MISSIO SCOTLAND. This year Missio is supporting the mission in Bolivia. Let’s be generous in our giving to help support Missio.
Mission Sunday Magazine: please pick up the free Mission magazine called “We are Mission”. Well worth a read!
Craigston Vigil Mass Winter Change: the last couple of years when the clocks change we have moved the Craigston Vigil Mass from 6pm to 4pm for the Winter months. A lot of parishioners seem to like this time change especially during the dark Winter months. Next Weekend the clocks will go back and therefore from Saturday 1st November the Vigil Mass will be at 4pm for the Winter Months. Next Saturday (25th October) will be the normal 6pm time but after that from Saturday 1st November it will be at 4pm.
Enrollment for Sacraments: letters have been sent out through the School to see how many Children will be preparing for their First Holy Communion and also for the Sacrament of Confirmation. If parents can fill them in and pass them onto the school.
Congratulations: to all from the island who did so well at the national Mòd last week in Fort William. So many did so very well. A lot of hard work goes on and the rewards of the hard work are shown in the awards. Well done to everyone!
