CHURCH NOTICES

Fr. Donald MacLeod: we warmly welcome Fr Donald to the island and our parishes. Of course Fr Donald is a local and it’s nice to get him back over to Barra to let him catch up with family. He will look after the daily Masses while Canon John Paul is away. Fr Donald will head back to the mainland on Monday13th October.

Fr. Stephen Reilly: this week we also have a visiting Priest from the Diocese of Motherwell coming to have a retreat in the Vatersay Chapel House. Fr Stephen has been a few times to the island and loves his time visiting the islands. We hope he has a fruitful retreat on our islands. Fr Stephen will also help this week with celebrating the Masses on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.

Canon John Paul: will be back on the boat on Thursday 16th October.

Recent Baptism: we warmly welcome into the family of the Church Cailean Gray who was baptised last Saturday 4th October in St. Brendan’s, Craigston. We wish Cailean every blessing of health, joy, peace and happiness and every blessing upon the parents and Godparents.

Diocesan Safeguarding day: The diocese is hosting an online Safegaurding day on Saturday 25th October from 11am -1pm.

The month of October: is an important month in praying the Rosary. Pope Leo asks us all to pray this month for Peace in our world during this month of October. The holy Rosary is a very powerful prayer given to us by Our Lady and she encourages us to pick up our Rosary and to pray it each day during the month of October.

Mission Sunday: Next Sunday is World Mission Sunday when we are called by Pope Leo to be “Missionaries of Hope”. We can do this by being part of the Church’s missionary efforts, supporting missionary priests, religious brothers and sisters and lay catechists who provide hope to those most in need. Let us pray for the Church’s missionary work and offer our financial support through Missio Scotland for our Catholic brothers and sisters in Mission countries. This year the focus of Missio Scotland is the people of Bolivia. Mission Sunday is the 19th October. On that day we will take up a special collection for MISSIO and there will be a letter read out on behalf of Fr Vincent Lockhart who is the national director of Missio Scotland.

Good luck: to all those heading for the Mòd in Lochaber this week. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Enrollment for Sacraments: letters have been sent out through the School to see how many Children will be preparing for their First Holy Communion & also for the Sacrament of Confirmation. If parents could fill in the forms and pass them onto the school.
