CHURCH NOTICES

 

First Holy Communion: We pray today for the 12 boys & girls who will make their First Holy Communion today. We pray for Mya Gillies, Eilidh MacKinnon & Ailsa MacNeil who will make their First Holy Commuion at the 9.30am Mass in Northbay.Then at the 11.30am Castlebay Mass:-  Ava MacLean; Lauren MacLeod; Brooke Waddell; Christopher Campbell; Finlay Jardine; Michael Davidson; Thomas MacLeod, Jonathan Pavlo and Alexander Nicholson.

Canon John Paul wishes to thank Castlebay & Eoligarry schools and the teachers who have prepared the children for their First Holy Commmunion. We pray to the Holy Spirit to guide these children to deepen their love for the Mass and for their Lord Jesus.

 

Canon John Paul: will be away this week. He is heading to the mainland to help look after a Wedding which will take place in Falkirk in the church of St. Francis Xavier on Friday 13th June. The bride’s family come from Barra- the Smith family from Brevig/Criochan. Canon John Paul has been invited to help in the Nuptial Mass. He will take a break after the wedding and return on Friday 20th June.

 

Fr. Donald MacLeod: this coming Thursday (12th June) Fr Donald MacLeod will travel over to the island for a week so that Canon John Paul can attend a wedding in Falkirk. Fr Donald will look after next weekend’s Masses.  Of course Fr Donald is from the island and it will be a good opportunity for him to catch up with family on the island. He will stay until Thursday 19th June.

 

SCIAF Wee Boxes: Canon John Paul wishes to thank everyone who has brought their “Wee Box” back to the church in support of SCIAF. In Northbay parish we collected £531.47 and in Castlebay parish we collected £1338.21. Moran Taing!

 

Recent Baptism: we warmly welcome into the family of the Church Roddy Gillies MacDonald who was baptised last Sunday in Our Lady of the Waves & St. John on Vatersay. We wish Roddy’s parents Lucy & Daniel and the Godparents every blessing and we pray to the Holy Spirit to help guide Roddy in his journey of faith.

 

Deanery Jubilee Mass Meeting: The plan is to have an “open air Mass” at Northbay Grotto on Sunday 3rd August at 2.15pm with Bishop Brian and with the local island Priests & parishioners and  to mark the Jubilee Year of Hope- The Holy Year of 2025. Parishioners from the neighbouring islands will travel over on the 1.00pm boat from Eriskay and a bus will be available to pick them up from Ardmhor ferry and take them to the Northbay Grotto and also a bus will be available to take people back for the last ferry at 5.30pm. There will be two more meetings planned……..

Sunday 15th June at 2.00pm Northbay Hall to look at food, homebaking, refreshments and setting up Hall.

Sunday 22nd June at 2.00pm Northay Hall to look at the Liturgy of the Mass; the music, Hymns, readings, prayers.

Please note that on Sunday 3rd August the 9.30am Northbay Sunday Mass will be cancelled as there will be Mass at 2.15pm. The 11.30am Mass in Castlebay will remain -as well as the Vigil Mass at 6pm in Craigston.

 

Fisherman’s Mass & Blessing of boats: it is planned for Sunday 6th July on Castlebay Pier at 2.00pm.
