CHURCH NOTICES

 

Stations of the Cross: there will be Stations of the Cross today (13th April) in St. Barr’s Northbay at 3.00pm. Also after Mass on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday.

 

Holy Week: this week we begin the most important week in our Christian faith-Holy Week. Today we begin with Palm Sunday and Palm leaves and Palm crosses will be blessed at all Masses this weekend. Then we move through each day towards Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil and then Easter Sunday.

Please see above the Mass times and services for Holy Week. Let us all embrace this Holy Week so that we may worthily receive the blessings of the Lord Jesus upon ourselves and our families.

 

Good Friday: is a day of Fast and Abstinence. A day we don’t eat meat. We will also take up a special collection for the Charity “Holy Places”.

 

Monday Mass: there will be Mass this week on Monday on Vatersay at 10.00am in Our Lady of the Waves & St. John.

 

Easter Vigil: will be at 9.00pm next Saturday in Craigston. The Easter Vigil has to begin in darkness therefore the Mass is at 9.00pm.

 

Mission Appeal: Fr Hugh Seenan wishes to thank everyone who made him feel so welcome last weekend and for supporting the special Collection of the Mission of the White Fathers. He was very blessed with great weather while he was on the island. We hope he will come back and visit the island again. The Collections raised in Castlebay £452.30 and Northbay £270.00.

 

SCIAF Sunday Collection: which was taken up on Sunday 30th March- the amounts were Castlebay £328.15 and  Northbay £213.00

 

SCIAF Wee Boxes: if you can start to bring the Wee Boxes to the Church as soon as you can- so that we can start to count the money and send it to SCIAF.

 

Lapaich/Housebound: Canon John Paul will visit the housebound this Holy Week. As always if you know of someone who would appreciate a visit form the Priest then please call Canon John Paul

 

Confessions: Monday (14th April) in Craigston Church from 6pm-7pm. Next Saturday (19th April) at the usual time of 9.30am-9.50am in Castlebay and 12 Noon-12.30pm in Northbay. Also on Good Friday (18th April) morning from 10am-10.30am in Castlebay.

 

Pastoral Letter: please pick up a Pastoral letter written by Bishop Brian. The letter is called “Implementing the fruits of Led by the Spirit”.

 

Sacrament of Confirmation Date: we pray for the Children preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation.Bishop Brian will confirm the Children on Saturday 10th May at 12 Noon in Castlebay Church.

 

Gift Aid Envelopes: the parish gift aid envelopes are available for collection at the church entrance- so please pick up your new envelopes then. Have you every thought about giving your Sunday collection as Gift Aid? It’s a huge support to the parishes!
