CHURCH NOTICES
SCIAF Sunday: today Sunday (30th March) is the 4th Sunday of Lent and we normally dedicate this Sunday to special prayers for the good work of SCIAF and also to take up a special collection to support the work of SCIAF. This year SCIAF celebrates 60 years of helping our brothers and sisters in need. Therefore today there will be a second collection for SCIAF.
Stations of the Cross: today Sunday (30th March) afternoon there will be Stations of the Cross at 3.00pm in Castlebay. The Stations of the Cross will be SCIAF Stations of the Cross. Reflections written by SCIAF.
Craigston Vigil Mass time: the clocks will spring forward one hour this weekend. Therefore next Saturday 5th April the Craigston Vigil Mass will be at 6.00pm and will continue till the end of the year. 6pm next Saturday!!
Mission Appeal: next weekend (5th/6th April) there will be a Mission Appeal in our parishes made by the Missionary White Fathers. Sadly Fr William Crombie cannot make it due to health reason and now we have Fr Hugh Seenan coming instead. Fr Hugh is the Provincial Delegate for Great Britian. There will be a Special Collection taken up next weekend for the Mission Appeal. Please be generous in support the Mission Appeal. Fr Hugh arrives by plane on Thursday. Staying till 8th April.
Confessions: When Fr. Hugh Seenan comes to the parish it will also be a good opportunity just before Holy Week to go to a visiting Priest for the sacrament of Confession. So please make use of going to the Sacrament with Fr Hugh. In next week’s newsletter there will be a times of when Confession will be. Please note the usual time of Saturday 9.30am-9.50am in Castlebay and 12noon-12.30pm in Northbay.
Canon John Paul: will be away this week attending a relatives wedding in Glasgow and he will return back on Friday 11th April. After the family wedding Canon John Paul will then remain in Glasgow and then attend the Chrism Mass in Oban (Wednesday 9th April) and then return back on 11th April. Fr Hugh Seenan will be in the parish on Thursday3rd April till Tuesday 8th April and will look after all Masses. Chrism Mass: is on Wednesday 9th April at 6.30pm in St. Columba’s Catherdal in Oban. All Welcome!
First Holy Communion Date: we pray for the children preparing for their First Holy Communion which is Sunday 8th June.
Sacrament of Confirmation Date: a reminder that Bishop Brian McGee will confirm the Children on Saturday 10th May.
Gift Aid Envelopes: the parish gift aid envelopes are available for collection at the church entrance- so please pick up your new envelopes then. Have you every thought about giving your Sunday collection as Gift Aid? If you pay tax then you can gift aid. All you have to do is sign a parish form (either Castlebay parish or Northbay parish) and then you are allocated a gift aid envelope number and then you can give your collection as Gift Aid. It really is that simple and it really helps our parishes. If you prefer to do your Sunday collection as a bank transfer then it’s even more simple. The parish bank account details are……………….
