CHURCH NOTICES
Recent Funeral: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Annie MacNeil (Annag Bell). Annag peacefully passed away last Sunday (16th March) in St. Brendan’s Home where she had been resident for the last few years. Annag passed away at the wonderful age of 92. The Requiem Mass took place on Wednesday 19th March in St. Brendan’s Craigston and then Annag was laid to rest in Vatersay. We extend our prayers of love & sympathy to Chrissie Mary and all the family & relatives at this sad time. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
Stations of the Cross: today Sunday (23rd March) afternoon there will be Stations of the Cross at 3.30pm in St. Barr’s Northbay
SCIAF Sunday: next Sunday (29th/30th March) is the 4th Sunday of Lent and we normally dedicate this Sunday to special prayers for the good work of SCIAF and also to take up a special collection to support the work of SCIAF. This year SCIAF celebrates 60 years of helping our brothers and sisters in need. Therefore next Sunday there will be a second collection for SCIAF.
Craigston Vigil Mass time: at the end of this month on Sunday 30th March the clocks will spring forward one hour. Therefore the first weekend in April (5th & 6th April) the Vigil Mass on Saturday will move back to 6.00pm. Therefore Saturday 5th April the Craigston Vigil Mass will be at 6.00pm and will continue till the end of the year.
First Confessions: There are 12 Children preparing for the Sacraments of First Confession & First Holy Communion. Recently all the Children made their First Confession and now we pray for them as they prepare for their First Holy Communion which will be Sunday 8th June.
Gift Aid Envelopes: the parish gift aid envelopes are available for collection at the church entrance- so please pick up your new envelopes then. Have you every thought about giving your Sunday collection as Gift Aid? If you pay tax then you can gift aid. All you have to do is sign a parish form (either Castlebay parish or Northbay parish) and then you are allocated a gift aid envelope number and then you can give your collection as Gift Aid. It really is that simple and it really helps our parishes. If you prefer to do your Sunday collection as a bank transfer then it’s even more simple. Canon John Paul will give you the parish bank account details so that you can set up a standing order. So please consider Gift Aid!
Support you parish through Bank Transfer: if anyone would like to support their parish by direct bank transfer- the details are;

Mission Appeal: the weekend of 5th/6th April there will be a Mission Appeal in our parishes made by the Missionary White Fathers. Fr William Crombie who is based in Rutherglen and also works alongside a Barra Priest (Fr Donald MacLeod) will come to the island to make the Mission Appeal. When Fr William comes to the parish it will also be a good opportunity just before Holy Week to go to a visiting Priest for the sacrament of Confession. So please make use of going to the Sacrament with Fr William.
