CHURCH NOTICES
Funeral: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Belle Campbell (Belle Fhorbais of Ardmhor) who passed away on the mainland on Sunday 3rd November aged 89. Belle’s funeral will take place this week- on Tuesday 19th November in St. Barr’s Church in Northbay at 11.30am and then Belle will be laid to rest in Eoligarry Graveyard. We extend our prayers of love and sympathy to all Belle’s family and relatives at this time. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
Heartfelt Prayers: we pray as an island community for the repose of the soul of Donnie MacNeil of Barra & Glasgow who passed away last Tuesday on the mainland aged only 36/37. Everyone is saddened by the death of Donnie. Our heartfelt prayers go to his parents and to his partner and to his brothers and all the cousins and relatives and his many friends. Donnie was well loved and highly thought of by everyone. We sadly now prepare for Donnie’s funeral which will take place on the island. Over the days that lie ahead arrangements will be made to bring Donnie to Barra. Announcements will be made locally and on social media of when the funeral will be. At times like this when we don’t know the words to say then we use the words of prayer. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
Special Collection: next weekend (23rd/24th Nov) there will be a 2nd collection for the Catholic Education service.
November Lists: November is the month of the Holy Souls. It is an important month when prayers are said for our deceased parishioners, family, relatives and friends. We have the lovely custom of our “November dead lists”. Please pick up a list and an envelope and write down on the list the names of those deceased members of your family you would like to pray for at Mass. All November lists will be placed upon the Altar at every Mass so that they will be remembered through the month of November.
Graveyard Rosary: during the month of November we will pray the Rosary at one of our graveyards each Sunday. It is very important to pray for our faithful departed and especially to pray the Rosary for them. The Rosary will be prayed on………

New Lectionary: in a couple of weeks time (Sunday 1st December) we will begin reading the new translation of the Lectionary. All our Churches on the island now have brand new copies of the Lectionary. All over the UK in every Catholic Church -many will hear the new translation and it will take a little time to get used to it but we look forward to listening more attentively to the word of God and to let God’s word take root in each of our hearts. The Sunday Newsletters from the 1st December will have the new translation of the Readings & Psalms on them-so we will see for ourselves the changes in translation.
