CHURCH NOTICES
Recent Funeral: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of HELEN MacNEIL (of Corran Ciosmul & Caolis Vatersay) who peacefully passed away last Sunday (3rd November) in St. Brendan’s Hospital at the age of 77. The Requiem Mass took place on Wednesday 6th November in Our Lady of the Waves & St. John on Vatersay and then Helen was laid to rest in Vatersay Graveyard. We extend our prayers of love & sympathy to all Helen’s family at this sad time. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
Future Funeral: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Belle Campbell (Belle Fhorbais of Ardmhor) who passed away on the mainland last Sunday (3rd November) aged 89. Belle’s funeral will take place on Tuesday 19th November in St. Barr’s Church in Northbay at 11.30am and then to be laid to rest in Eoligarry Graveyard. Belle for the last two years has been living with family in Bishopton. The family plan to have a Mass for Belle in their home parish in Bishopton next Friday before bringing her back to Barra. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
Recent Baptism: we warmly welcome in to the family of the Church Aurora Davidson who was baptised last Sunday in Our Lady Star of the Sea in Castlebay. We wish Aurora every blessing of health, peace, joy and happiness and every blessing upon Aurora’s parents Kristie & Sander and the Godparents Oran & Katie.
Tuesday’s Mass: please note the Mass in Eoligarry on Tuesday will be slightly earlier. It will be at 9.45am.
November Lists: November is the month of the Holy Souls. It is an important month when prayers are said for our deceased parishioners, family, relatives and friends. We have the lovely custom of our “November dead lists”. Please pick up a list and an envelope and write down on the list the names of those deceased members of your family you would like to pray for at Mass. All November lists will be placed upon the Altar at every Mass so that they will be remembered through the month of November.
Graveyard Rosary: during the month of November we will pray the Rosary at one of our graveyards each Sunday. It is a very important to pray for our faithful departed and especially to pray the Rosary. The Rosary will be prayed on………

Sunday 17th November at 3.00pm at CUITHIR Graveyard
Sunday 24th November at 2.00pm at EOLIGARRY Graveyard
War Memorial Service: today (10th November) is Remembrance Sunday and on this day we gather to pray for those who have died in our Great world Wars and all who continue to die in war and to always pray for peace. The War memorial service will be at the War Memorial in Nask at 2.00pm.
SCIAF Fundraising Bingo: will be on Friday 15th November at 7.00pm in Castlebay School. Donations are welcome and can be handed into the Top Shop or to be given to Claire MacLeod or Katag MacNeil.
Craigston Vigil Mass: is now at 4.00pm for the winter months.
St. Barr’s Statue Merchandise: in Northbay Church porch there are some items of merchandise for sale to support the fund to build a new outdoor Statue of St. Barr. Calendars £9; Mugs £8 and pens £3 -buy all three for £20! A wee thought for a Christmas gift for someone!
