Requiem Mass: we pray for the repose of the soul of Helen MacNeil of Corran Ciosmul in Horve who peacefully passed away on Sunday (3rd November) at the age of 77 in St. Brendan’s Hospital. Helen’s Requiem Mass will be on Wednesday 6th November at 11.00am in Our Lady of the Waves & St. John on Vatersay. There will be Rosary at 7.00pm on Monday 4th Nov and Tuesday 5th Nov in Vatersay Church for the repose of the soul of Helen. We extend our prayers of love & sympathy to all Helen’s family at this sad time. Eternal rest grant unto her o Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
Recent Funeral: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of MARY FLORA MacNEIL or MAINIE as we all knew her as. Mainie peacefully passed away in the early hours of last Tuesday morning at the age of 68 in St. Brendan’s Hospital. Mainie has not kept good health for a long time. The Requiem Mass took place on Thursday 31st October in St. Barr’s, Northbay and then Mainie was laid to rest in Eoligarry Graveyard beside her late husband Don. We extend our prayers of love and sympathy to Laura and all the family at this sad time. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
Funeral Collection: Mainie’s family asked if a collection could be taken up after the funeral last Thursday and for the collection to be split between St. Barr’s Church and St. Brendan’s Hospital. The collection raised just over £600 and therefore £300 to both charities. Thank you for your support and kindness.
Mission Sunday Collection: Last Sunday the MISSIO Collection raised- Castlebay £271.55 and in Northbay £222.70. Thank you!
November Lists: November is the month of the Holy Souls. It is an important month when prayers are said for our deceased parishioners, family, relatives and friends. We have the lovely custom of our “November dead lists”. Please pick up a list and an envelope and write down on the list the names of those deceased members of your family you would like to pray for at Mass. All November lists will be placed upon the Altar at every Mass so that they will be remembered through the month of November.
Graveyard Rosary: during the month of November we will pray the Rosary at one of our graveyards each Sunday. It is a very important to pray for our faithful departed and especially to pray the Rosary. The Rosary will be prayed on………

War Memorial Service: Next Sunday (10th November) will be Remembrance Sunday and on that day we gather to pray for those who have died in our Great world Wars and in all wars and to pray always for peace. The War memorial service will be at the War Memorial in Nask at 2.00pm on Sunday 10th November.
Craigston Vigil Mass: from this weekend the Craigston Vigil Mass will be at 4.00pm for the winter months.
Northbay Tea after Mass: today is the first Sunday of November and therefore we have tea/coffee & home baking after the Northbay Mass in the Hall. All welcome.
St. Barr’s Statue Merchandise: To help support fundraising for the new outdoor statue of St. Barr there is some merchandise for sale. Mugs, Calendars & pens are for sale. After the Sunday Mass in Northbay today when the tea & coffee is in the hall the merchandise will be in the hall for sale.
Welcome to Fr Henry Ponce: last Tuesday Fr Henry Ponce arrived on Vatersay. He is on a week’s retreat. He is staying in the Vatersay Chapel house till this Tuesday. He is a Filipino Jesuit Priest living in the Jesuit House in Edinburgh at the moment. Fr Henry has been helping with Masses on All Saints and All Souls and today there is a Sunday Mass. We are grateful to Fr Henry celebrating the Mass over on Vatersay.
