Fr William Crombie: next weekend we will welcome Fr William Crombie to look after the weekend Masses. Fr Crombie is a Priest with the “White Fathers-Missionaries of Africa”. Fr Crombie is based in Rutherglen. He works alongside a Priest from Barra- Fr Donald MacLeod. Fr Crombie will arrive on Friday 18th October and stay till Tuesday 22nd October. He is looking forward to his first trip to Barra.

Canon John Paul away: he will be away next weekend attending the Schoenstatt Retreat Centre just outside Lennoxtown. He goes there each October to help lead a weekend of talks with men who are thinking and discerning about the Priesthood. He will be away from Thursday 17th October for a week.

The month of October: is called the month of the Holy Rosary. So let us use this month of October to pray more often the Rosary and meditate on the Glorious Mysteries (Wednesday & Sunday), Sorrowful Mysteries (Tuesday & Friday), Joyful Mysteries (Monday & Saturday) and Luminous Mysteries (Thursday) of the Rosary.

Rosary after weekday Mass: after Mass on Tuesday & Wednesday this week the Rosary will be prayed.

October Devotions: today (13th October) we will have Rosary & Benediction at 4.00pm in Our Lady Star of the Sea, Castlebay.

Orders for New Sunday Missal: as we know from Sunday the 1st December 2024 (1st Sunday of Advent) the Church is moving to a new version of the Lectionary. For the last 60 years we have become familiar with the translation we listen to each Sunday. That will change with a new translation. Does anyone want a new copy of the Sunday Missal? The publishing company CTS are one of the main publishers of the new Missal. There is a Red/Gold edition at £19.95. Then there is a white/Gold edition which is dearer at £29.95 and also a Burgundy/Gold edition which is also £29.95. Canon John Paul can order some Missals if you are interested-let him know if you are happy with the red edition at £19.95 or if you want one of the other colours at £29.95? If you wish to go online use- www.ctsbooks.org.uk

Craigston Vigil Mass: last year when the clocks went back we moved the Craigston Vigil Mass time to the earlier time of 4.00pm. It seemed to suit a lot of people. Therefore when the clocks go back on Sunday 27th October. The following Saturday 2nd November we will move the Craigston Vigil to 4.00pm for the winter months.

Children’s Liturgy & PVG Forms: it will be nice to look at starting again the Children’s Liturgy. For anyone to help them must fill in a PVG Form for safeguarding reasons. There are some parents in the parish who already are in the PVG Scheme in the Church and can renew your PVG form if you wish. Please let Canon John Paul know if you wish to help.

Good luck: to all who have travelled from the island to the National Mòd in Oban this week. There are many children and adults form the island taking part. We hope they have a wonderful time. Good Luck and enjoy!
