CHURCH NOTICES
Recent Funeral: we pray for the repose of the soul of Mary Margaret MacKechnie (of Nask) who peacefully passed away on Monday 16th September aged 81. We know Mary Margaret has not been keeping well for while. The Funeral took place on Wednesday 18th September in Our Lady Star of the Sea in Castlebay and then Mary Margaret was laid to rest in Cuithir cemetery. We extend our prayers of love and sympathy to all the family at this time. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. She rest in peace. Amen.
Led by the Spirit Consultation: Thank you to all who came along to the meeting last Sunday. Our thoughts from the meeting have been sent to Bishop Brian. Moran Taing!
Children’s Liturgy & PVG Forms: Some parents have come forward to ask if they can start again the Children’s Liturgy on a Sunday morning during Mass time. To be able to help in the Children’s Liturgy you will have to fill in a PVG Form for safeguarding reasons. There are some parents in the parish who already are in the PVG Scheme in the Church and can renew your PVG form if you wish. Please let Canon John Paul know if you wish to help with the Children’s Liturgy and that you are happy to fill in a PVG form. In Castlebay Parish you can speak with Jackie Sinclair and in Northbay Parish with Sineag MacKinnon about filling in the PVG forms.
Congratulations: to Christine Galbraith in St. Barr’s Parish who has been chosen to be a New Deputy Lieutenant for Barra & Vatersay within the Western Isles. Of course Betty McAtear has been Deputy Lieutenant (since 1998) and is presently Vice Lord-Lieutenant (since 2017) until her retirement which is next month. We are very grateful to Betty for all she has done in her role and we wish Christine every blessing in her new role.
Housebound / Lapaich: Canon John Paul is keen to update his list for visiting the Housebound around the island. If there is someone you know who cannot get along to church and would like a visit from the Priest with the Sacraments (especially with Holy Communion)- then please let Canon John Paul know and he will organise his visits to the Housebound (Lapaich).
Diocesan Safeguarding Day: it will be online. It is on Saturday 28th September from 11am-1pm. To register go to the Diocesan website for Argyll & the isles or the Diocesan Facebook page. Once registered you will receive a welcome email with instructions on how to join on the day.
Grass-cutting: Canon John Paul wishes to thank everyone who has been helping cut the grass this year around our five churches. Your support and work in keeping the grass tidy is greatly appreciated. Moran Taing!
