CHURCH NOTICES
“Aid to the Church in Need” Talk & Special Collection: this weekend we will have someone from the Catholic Charity “Aid to the Church in Need” come and give a talk at all Masses. Peter Diamond is a Community Fundraiser in Scotland for “Aid to the Church in Need”. This Charity helps many Catholics in many difficult and dangerous places in our World. So often Christians in our World are persecuted for their faith -for their love of their Lord Jesus –which is so unfair. The persecuted are helped and supported by the Charity “Aid to the Church in Need”. So we look forward to hearing more about the Charity from Peter Diamond. At all Masses there will be a 2nd Collection in support of the Charity.
Special Collection: next weekend we will take up a special collection to support the Sick and Retired Priests of the Diocese. Please be generous in supporting those Priests who have given their life to working within the Diocese for so many years.
Northbay Sunday Tea: next Sunday is the 1st Sunday of the month of September. Therefore we will have a tea in the Northbay Hall after the 9.30am Sunday Mass. All Welcome!
Led by the Spirit Consultation: the 3rd phase of the Diocesan Consultation of “Led by the Spirit” is now moving forward. Phase 3 is called Living our Mission-being called to Holiness. Go online to www.ledbythespirit.rcdai.org.uk and please read through the resources for Phase 3. Please watch the video clip from Bishop Brian and please read again Bishop Brian’s Pastoral letter. Also have a look at the other resources available on the website. Bishop Brian is keen that we come together as a parish to discuss the thoughts and ideas of phase 3. Hopefully towards the end of the month of August we will have a couple of meetings to look at answering the questions “How do we live out our call to holiness now and in the future in a way that prepares us for a changing Diocese? What is being asked of me individually or of our parish and of our diocese and what needs to develop or change in me, in my parish and in the diocese? They are very deep and meaningful questions we need to ask ourselves. So please look up the Diocesan website page of Led by the Spirit and look over the resources available and then we will plan meetings to discuss the topics and questions raised.
New Lectionary for Mass: The Catholic Bishops of Scotland have approved the preparation of a new Lectionary (the books of readings used at Mass) to update and replace the three volume Lectionary in use at the moment. This happens within all the Dioceses of Scotland, England and Wales. This will happen in Advent of 2024. The current version uses the “Jerusalem Bible” translation but the new version will be the Catholic Edition of the English Standard Version (ESV). Therefore all parishes throughout the UK will have to buy new Lectionary books. These books will be ordered soon and we will look at beginning to read the new version of the Lectionary this Advent (1st December 2024).
