CHURCH NOTICES

 

Funeral of Canon  Roddy Johnston: Canon Roddy will be received in St. Columba’s Cathedral on Tuesday 2nd April at 6.30pm. Then on Wednesday 3rd April the Requiem Mass will be at 10.00am in St. Columba’s Cathedral. Afterwards Canon Roddy will be taken to Fort William and will be laid to rest in Glen Nevis cemetery at 1pm. The news of Canon Roddy’s death has been a shock to so many around the Diocese and beyond. The Requiem Mass will be live streamed so please check the Diocesan Facebook page for details. We commend his soul to God and pray that God may be gracious and merciful upon his soul and to grant him the fullness of eternal peace in the paradise of heaven. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

 

Recent Funeral: the Funeral service of Hugh MacLeod took place on Thursday 28th March in St. Barr’s in Northbay. Hughie peacefully died on Tuesday 26th March aged 89 in Earsary. Hugh was laid to rest in Eoligarry Cemetery. We extend our prayers of love & sympthay to Hugh’s family & friends at this time. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

 

Recent death: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Margaret MacNeil (Margaret Ghliss of Skallary & Ciosmul Cottages) who suddenly passed away on Wednesday 27th March in her home aged 58. She will be laid to rest after the Easter Sunday Mass in Castlebay. Margaret was loved by us all! She was a gentle, beautful soul! A sad loss to our island! We extend our prayers of love & sympathy to her mum Mary and her siblings and all her family and especially all her friends at the Garadh Bagh a Tuath. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.

Easter Sunday Egg Hunt:  after the Easter Sunday 9.30am Mass in Northbay there will be an Easter egg hunt for the children.

 

Craigston Vigil Mass time: from Saturday 6th April the Vigil Mass will return to 6.00pm.

 

Mill Hill Mission Appeal: next weekend (6th & 7th April) we have a mission appeal held by the Mill Hill Missionaries. Fr Bernard Fox will be here to make the appeal. The 2nd Collection next Sunday will go to support the good work of the Mill Hill Missionaries.

 

Fr. Bernard Fox: will be here next weekend making an appeal on behalf of the Mill Hill Missionaries. He arrives on Thursday 4th April by plane.

 

Wedding prayers: we remember in our prayers KayleighAnne O’Carroll and Michael MacInnes who will marry on Thursday 4th April in Galway, Ireland. There are many family and friends travelling from Barra to Galway to attend the Wedding. We hope and pray that KayleighAnne & Mish will have a wonderful wedding celebration and we wish them every joy, peace, love and happiness in their future marriage.

 

Canon John Paul: will be away for the next week. He leaves on Monday 1st April and will return on Monday 8th April. Sadly Canon John Paul will not be attending the funeral of Fr Roddy Johnston as is going to Galway to look after the wedding of KayleighAnne O Carroll & Michael MacInnes.
