CHURCH NOTICES

Recent Funerals:we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Lena Callaghan (Lena Mhicheil a’Crugail) of Northbay & Dolina MacInnes (Doll Fhorbais) of Eoligarry who both  died on Thursday 1st February. Lena passed away in hospital in Glasgow and Dolina passed away in her own home in Eoligarry. Dolina’s Requiem Mass took place on Monday 5th February in St. Vincent’s Eoligarry. Lena’s Requiem Mass took place on Tuesday 6th February in St. Barr’s in Northbay. We are very grateful to Bishop Brian McGee who celebrated both Requiem Masses while Canon John Paul was away. We extend our prayers of love and sympathy to Lena’s family and Dolina’s family. Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon. May they rest in peace. Amen.

Fr. Bernard Fox: we warmly welcome Fr. Bernard to the parish and to the island. He will celebrate the weekend Masses while Canon John Paul is away. Fr. Bernard is a Mill Hill Missionary Priest based in Cardonald in Glasgow. Fr Bernard will head away by plane on Tuesday (13th Feb). We are very grateful to Fr Bernard for coming to our parishes. Fr Bernard will return in the month of April- he will lead a Missionary appeal on behalf of his missionary order. So we look forward to welcoming him back in April.

The Season of Lent: this coming Wednesday we embrace the holy time of Lent and we use the 40 days of Lent to do all we can to come closer to God. A time to make good use of the Sacrament of Confession. A good time to pray and read the scriptures. A time to attend Stations of the Cross. Lent is a time to put God first and learn more why Jesus died on the Cross and why the Cross is at the heart of our Christian faith.

Confession with Fr. Bernard Fox: why not take the opportunity and go to the Sacrament of confession with our visiting priest Fr. Bernard who will make himself available.

SCIAF Wee Boxes: please pick up a SCIAF envelope which is in the Church and inside the envelope is the Wee Box.

Lent Prayer books: there are some prayer books available to adults and children in the church. They are priced £1.00
