CHURCH NOTICES

The month of October: this coming Wednesday we begin the month of October and it is an important month in praying the Rosary. The 7th October is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Pope Leo asks us all to pray this month for Peace in our world. The holy Rosary is a very powerful prayer given to us by Our Lady and she encourages us to pick up our Rosary and to pray it each day during the month of October. Our Lady said to St Dominic “I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary. St Therese of Lisieux (The little flower) beautfully said “The Rosary is a long chain that links heaven and earth. One end of it is in our hands and the other end is in the hands of the Holy Virgin.”

Mass at St. Brendan’s Home: each Friday Canon John Paul celebrates Mass in St. Brendan’s Home at 2.30pm. The Mass is now available to the public to attend.

Grass cutting: Canon John Paul wishes to thank all who gave their time in cutting the grass around all our Churches this year. As always the Church grounds have all looked great. Hopefully now the “last cuts” have been done for the year. Moran Taing uile!

Altar Servers: if there are any children who have made their first Holy Communion and would like to be an Altar Server for Castlebay Church or Craigston Church or Northbay Church then please speak with Canon John Paul and we can organise a practice.

Enrollment for Sacraments: over the next couple of  weeks letters will be sent out through the School to see how many Children will be preparing for their First Holy Communion and also for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Parish Fabric Committee: Canon John Paul will organise a Committee for Castlebay Parish and one for Northbay Parish to help support him in looking after the fabric and maintenance of our Churches and Chapel houses. We will also organise committees for each parish to help fundraising for our parishes so that we can plan various work and projects for the parishes.

Holy Land Accompaniment: if you are interested in being part of a Diocesan group to help support the poor suffering people of Gaza then email….. holylandaccompaniment@rcdai.scot   and be a part of the group offering their prayers of support from the Diocese.
