CHURCH NOTICES

Recent Funerals: we pray for the repose of the souls of Anne Marie McKirdy (61) who was laid to rest on Saturday 30th August in Cuithir Cemetery and also Nellie Philomena Wilson (84) who was laid to rest on Sunday 31st August in Eoligarry Cemetery. Both Requiem Masses took place in Our Lady Star of the Sea. We extend our prayers of love and sympathy to all families. Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

Fr Mayamiko Kachipapa: We thank Fr Mayamiko for looking after the parishes while Canon John Paul was away on his Summer Holiday. Fr Mayamiko will head away on Tuesday 2nd September for the mainland and help supply in Campbeltown parish. We hope he enjoyed his time on the island and in our parishes.

Canon John Paul: will return back to the parish this coming week- On Tuesday 2nd September.

Ecclesistical Students Fund: next weekend there will be a second collection to support the Ecclesiastical students Fund of the Diocese.

Parish Fabric Committees: when Canon John Paul returns from his Summer Holidays in September he will speak with various parishioners to organise themselves into a Castlebay or Northbay Parish fabric Committee -who will help Canon John Paul look after the Churches (& Chapel houses) on our islands. Various people over the years are always ready to help but there is a strong need now more than ever to have a formal group to meet often and plan work and maintenance on our Churches (& Chapel houses). Canon John Paul wants to push forward to get work done to Castlebay Church-which is long, long over due. Sadly Architects and other historic organistions have kept putting Castlebay Church down a list and forgetting about the urgent work that needs to be done to Castlebay church. We can’t let this happen anymore! Not only Castlebay Church but all our Churches need maintained. If you want to help by putting forward a name for the Castlebay or Northbay Fabric Committee then speak with Canon John Paul when he returns or send him an email either to castlebay@rcdai.org.uk or northbay@rcdai.org.uk

Fundraising Committees: also Canon John Paul wants to organise a Castlebay Parish Fundraising Commitee and also a Northbay Parish Fundrasing Committee. In the past we often had help from the Diocese to help support projects of work for our churches and chapel houses. However that is all finshed. Every parish now has to support itself and do their own fundraising and to contact the various charitable organistations that offer grants etc. If you wish to help by putting forward a name of someone who you think would be good to help in this committe for Castlebay or Northbay parish- then contact Canon John Paul at one of the parish email addresses- castlebay@rcdai.org.uk or northbay@rcdai.org.uk
