CHURCH NOTICES
Requiem Mass: we pray for the repose of the soul of Murdoch MacKinnon (Murchadh Raogainn of Ardmhor) who peacefully passed away in St. Brendan’s Hospital on Friday 27th June at the age of 72. Murchadh for the last six months had been in hospital in Glasgow. He returned back to Barra to spend his final few days in his own home in Ardmhor before he was admitted into St. Brendan’s Hospital. The Requiem Mass will be on Monday 30th June at 11.00am in St. Barr’s, Northbay and thereafter burial in Cille Bharra in Eoligarry. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
Peter’s Pence collection: today is the Feast of St. Peter & St Paul and we will take up a special collection called Peters Pence. It is a collection which is a gesture of support to the Pope in his Mission. It helps support Pope Leo in his mission to proclaim the Gospel, promote peace and spread Christian charity. Therefore a second collection will be taken at all Masses.
Fisherman’s Mass & Blessing of boats: next Sunday (6th July) the annual Fisherman’s Mass & the blessing of the boats will take place on Castlebay Pier at 2.00pm. All Welcome! Let’s pray for some nice dry and sunny weather.
Wedding: we remember in our prayers Alison MacDonald from Rhulios here on the island who will marry Seumas Campbell from South Uist next Friday (4th July) in St. Barr’s Church in Northbay at 2.00pm. Our thoughts and prayers are with Alison & Seumas as they prepare for their Wedding day. Let’s pray for good weather for them so that it will be a day filled with great blessings and memories for them and their families.
Visit of Diocesan Priests: next weekend we will have Fr Roddy McAuley and Fr Ronald Campbell here on the island. Both Fr Roddy and Fr Ronald have been invited to the wedding which takes place in Northbay next Friday. They will both stay over the weekend and will be at the Fisherman’s Mass on Sunday. Fr Roddy is now the parish priest of Dunoon and Fr Ronald is the parish priest of the Isle of Skye. We look forward to welcoming them both to the island next weekend.
