CHURCH NOTICES

Housebound / Lapaich: Canon John Paul is keen to update his list for visiting the Housebound around the island. If there is someone you know who cannot get along to church and would like a visit from the Priest with the Sacraments (especially with Holy Communion)- then please let Canon John Paul know and he will organise his visits to the Housebound (Lapaich).

“Aid to the Church in Need” Charity: last Sunday we had Peter Diamond speak to the parish about the good work of the Charity Aid to the Church in Need. Peter highlighted the various places where so many Christians are persecuted in our world. Peter wishes to thank everyone for making him feel so welcome to our parishes and for the kindness and generosity in the special collections. The Special Collections were Castlebay £405.77 and Northbay £383.05.  Moran Taing!

Special Collection: today we will take up a special collection to support the Sick and Retired Priests of the Diocese. Please be generous in supporting those Priests who have given their lives to working within the Diocese for so many years and we continue to support them with our Special Collection.

Northbay Sunday Tea: today is the 1st Sunday of the month of September. Therefore we will have a tea in the Northbay Hall after the 9.30am Sunday Mass. All Welcome!

Diocesan Clergy Assembly: the Annual meeting of the Clergy Assembly will be in Oban from Tuesday 10th September till Thursday 12th September. The Assembly this year will be focused on the “Led by the Spirit” consultation. Bishop Brian and the Priests of the Diocese will come together to pray, listen and share together and discern also the future of the Diocese. Canon John Paul plans to head over to Oban for the Clergy Assembly.

Northbay Chapel Hall Committee: last Wednesday there was a meeting to organise a new Hall Committee. It was a well attended meeting and a new Hall Committee has now been established.

Led by the Spirit Consultation: the 3rd phase of the Diocesan Consultation of “Led by the Spirit” is now going on throughout the Diocese. Phase 3 is called Living our Mission-being called to Holiness. Go online to www.ledbythespirit.rcdai.org.uk and please read through the resources for Phase 3. Also watch the video clips and read again Bishop Brian’s Pastoral letter. Also have a look at the other resources available on the website. Bishop Brian is keen that we come together in our parishes to discuss the thoughts and ideas of phase 3. We look at answering the questions………………..

  1. How do we live out our call to holiness now and in the future in a way that prepares us for a changing Diocese?
  2. What is being asked of me individually or of our parish and of our diocese and what needs to develop or change in me, in my parish and in the diocese?

THERE WILL BE A MEETING ON SUNDAY 15th SEPTEMBER IN ST. BARR’S CHAPEL HALL AT 3.00pm.
