CHURCH NOTICES
Requiem Mass: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Murchadh Eosa MacDonald (Pavarotti) of Ardmhor who peacefully passed away on Saturday 6th July in St. Brendan’s Hospital aged 84. Murchadh’s Requiem Mass will be on Tuesday 9th July at 11.00am in St. Barr’s Northbay and thereafter burial in “Cille Bharra”- Eoligarry Graveyard. We extend our prayers and sympathy to Nellie and all the family at this sad time. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
Fisherman’s Mass & Blessing of Boats: today (Sunday 7th July) we have the annual Fisherman’s Mass and the blessing of boats at 2.00pm at Castlebay pier car park. Let’s pray for some good weather and lots of fishing boats and others boats to come along for their blessing. There will be a bucket collection to support RNLI and Stella Maris & Fisherman’s Mission and there will be fresh Herring being cooked. Everyone welcome to come along and support our Fishermen! We are always looking for volunteers to help set up on Sunday morning at the pier and also to tidy away after Mass. If you can help then please go along.
Sea Sunday: Seafarers and Fishermen play a vital role in all of our lives, but they often work in difficult, hazardous conditions. On Se Sunday the church prays for all those who live and work at sea. Your support always make a big difference. You can donate through the 2nd collection today or by going on line www.stellamaris.org.uk/donate, or by texting “SEA” to 70460 to donate £5. These donations are a great support to Stella Maris in their good work in supporting our Seafarers and Fishermen.
Tea/Coffee after Northbay Sunday Mass: normally we do this on the first Sunday of the month however since the Fisherman’s Mass is on today we will delay till next Sunday 14th July.
Eoligarry Church new path: on Monday 17th June there was a new concrete path made from the Eoligarry Church gate to the steps of the Church. Canon John Paul wishes to thank all those who gave of their time to organise the work and to complete the work. Many thanks to John MacLennan Contractors Ltd for organising the concrete. It was a great “team effort” and the final outcome is great. It has been on the “to do list” for a number of years but now it has been completed. Moran Taing uile!
Happy Summer Holidays: we wish all parishioners and visitors Happy Summer Holidays!! Let’s pray that we may get some good weather upon our islands. It’s been a tough start to the Summer with the poor weather. Feels more like Winter than Summer! We pray for the safety of all who are traveling about at this time of the year. Enjoy your Summer time.
