CHURCH NOTICES

Recent Funeral: we remember in our prayers the repose of the soul of Jean Campbell of Glen who peacefully passed away last Sunday in St. Brendan’s Hospital at the age of 79. Jean’s funeral took place on Wednesday 18th October in Our Lady Star of the Sea in Castlebay and thereafter Jean was laid to rest in Cuithir Cemetery. We extend our prayers of love and sympathy to all Jean’s family at this sad time. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.

Mission Sunday: today is Mission Sunday. It is a day that the church unites in praying for all our Missionary religious orders and all the good work they do in spreading the Gospel message throughout the world. A letter will be read out at all Masses on behalf of Fr. Vincent Lockhart who is the National director of Missio in Scotland. Also Missio have produced a magazine called “We are Mission” which is free and a very interesting read. This year Missio Scotland is keen to help support different projects in Sri Lanka. Please pick up a free magazine.

Special Collection for Missio Scotland: there will be a second collection at all Masses for the work of Missio.

Craigston Vigil Mass at 4pm for Winter: we will begin a 4.00pm Vigil Mass time for Craigston on Saturday 4th November. The clocks go back on the weekend of 28th/29th October and therefore the first weekend of November will be a good opportunity to move the Craigston Vigil Mass from 6pm to 4pm. Therefore from Saturday 4th November until at least March 2024 we will celebrate the Vigil Mass at 4.00pm. Then when the clocks go forward in 2024 we will move the Vigil Mass time back to 6pm. We will monitor how it goes with this change of vigil time for Winter!!

Wedding: congratulations to Heather Campbell & Craig Wilson who were married on Thursday 19th October in Our Lady of the Waves & St. John on Vatersay. We wish Mr & Mrs Wilson every joy, happiness and blessings in their marriage.

The Month of October: is of course the month of the rosary. It is a wonderful time to pick up our Rosary beads and to pray the holy Rosary.

National Mòd: congratulations to those who took part in the Mòd in Paisley last week. Everyone did so well.

November Lists: the month of November is just around the corner. Next weekend the November Lists will be handed out so that we can write down the names of our deceased family, relatives and friends –those names we wish to remember during the Masses in November.
